A 16-YEAR-OLD boy who stole a man鈥檚 mobile phone, forced him to kiss his shoes and punched him in the face has been given a three-month probation order.
The Youth Court heard that the victim was left feeling 鈥渉umiliated and disgusted鈥 and with bruises to his left eye and cheek after the offence on the evening of 13 March.
Legal adviser Samantha Morris said the teenager 鈥 who cannot be named due to his age 鈥 demanded that the victim give him 鈥渟ome weed鈥 and began searching the victim鈥檚 pockets.
鈥淗e told him if he didn鈥檛 find him some weed he would batter him,鈥 Ms Morris said.
The teenager found the victim鈥檚 mobile phone and said he would only return it when he gave him some drugs.
She added: 鈥淗e became quite intimidating. He made the victim kiss his shoes and filmed him while he was doing it. He then punched him in the left side of his face.鈥
On the same evening, in the company of some other youths, the teenager kicked the wing mirror of a car and the driver鈥檚 side panel. The malicious damage was captured on a camera inside the vehicle.
Advocate Estelle Burns, defending, said the teenager had been associating with people who he now recognised were a bad influence on him, and had resolved to keep away from them in future.
Relief Magistrate Sarah Fitz said the assault was 鈥渁 deeply unpleasant offence鈥 and imposed the probation order.
